Tanatasa Launches Singapore’s First Agent-First E-Commerce Store, Letting AI Assistants Shop for Consumers

Following the arrival of Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots and Instinct, Singapore retailer Tanatasa enables personal AI agents to search products, build shopping carts and prepare purchases — not just recommend what to buy.

SINGAPORE, 31 October 2026 — Just days after Meta launched its personal AI agent Muse in Singapore, local online retailer tanatasa.SG has launched Singapore’s first agent-first e-commerce store, allowing consumers to delegate their everyday shopping to AI assistants.

The launch comes amid a wave of new personal AI agents. OpenAI introduced Dots on 29 September, while Instinct has gained traction since its August debut. Meta brought Muse to Singapore on 27 October, with shopping among its key capabilities.

These assistants promise to do more than answer questions. They can carry out tasks on behalf of their users. Tanatasa is bringing that capability to everyday shopping.

Instead of opening a shopping app, browsing through hundreds of listings and adding products to a cart, a customer can simply tell their AI assistant:

“Help me restock the house. I need rice, cooking oil, laundry detergent, toothpaste and some snacks for the kids. Keep it under S$60 and show me the cart before buying.”

Through Tanatasa’s shopping infrastructure, compatible AI agents can find suitable products, compare options, check prices and stock, select quantities, apply discount codes, build a shopping cart and prepare checkout for the customer’s approval.

More than AI-powered product search

Most existing AI shopping experiences focus on helping customers discover products, compare prices or recommend where to buy them. Customers are then directed to a retailer’s website to complete their purchases.

Tanatasa takes this further by providing AI agents with the tools to perform the shopping process itself.

Its infrastructure supports Model Context Protocol (MCP), REST APIs and CLI command-line tools, allowing compatible agents to interact directly with the store’s product catalogue and shopping functions without navigating its website.

Tanatasa is also available as a ChatGPT plugin, bringing its shopping capabilities into the ChatGPT ecosystem.

The platform is designed to work with personal AI assistants including Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Instinct and Claude Duet, as well as other agents capable of connecting to its shopping interfaces.

“We don’t want to build yet another AI shopping assistant. Consumers already have their own agents, and those agents increasingly understand their preferences, budgets and shopping habits,” said Li Sian, founder of tanatasa.SG. “Our job is to make sure those agents can actually shop, not just tell people what they should buy.”

Shopping without visiting a shopping website

Tanatasa currently offers more than 42,000 products across groceries, household essentials, beauty, personal care, health and wellness, baby products and pet supplies.

Customers can ask their agents to handle routine household restocking, find specific products or put together a basket within a budget.

A shopper can review the proposed basket, request changes and approve the purchase through a secure checkout. No Tanatasa account is required, and during this launch period, delivery is free across Singapore with no minimum order.

Customers who prefer conventional online shopping can still use the website directly. Tanatasa also supports shared shopping carts, allowing customers to move between their browser and a connected AI agent.

Agentic Commerce: Preparing for a future where AI agents are the shoppers

For more than two decades, e-commerce has been built around getting consumers to visit websites and apps, search for products, compare listings and complete transactions themselves.

Personal AI agents could change that behaviour. As consumers increasingly delegate routine tasks to their assistants, retailers will need to serve both human customers and the AI agents acting on their behalf.

“Today, retailers compete to attract people to their websites or apps,” Li Sian added. “But if consumers start asking their personal AI agents to do their shopping, those agents will need stores they can actually transact with. Tanatasa is the first place the AI agents can go to for shopping in Singapore.”

Having already fulfilled more than 10,000 customer orders, Tanatasa is expanding from its beauty and wellness roots into a broader destination for everyday essentials, with agent-first commerce at the centre of its strategy.
